One of Asia’s largest and most revolutionary ships, Quantum of the Seas will extend her homeporting season in Singapore by seven months, sailing in the region until April 2021. It will be the longest ever Singapore deployment for Royal Caribbean’s Quantum class ship.
With the arrival of RCL’s newest ship Spectrum of the Seas, also sailing out of the Singapore for the first time, this will mean Royal Caribbean will celebrate a double Quantum year with both Spectrum of the Seas and Quantum of the Seas sailing from Singapore in 2019.
Royal Caribbean’s Senior Vice President International, Gavin Smith who made the announcement onboard Spectrum of the Seas’ maiden voyage said the commitment to have two of the line’s largest and most innovative ships underscores the line’s confidence in the region’s “thriving cruise industry with Singapore playing a major role as a cruise hub.”
“Royal Caribbean has big ambitions for Asia,” Mr Smith said.
“And Singapore sits at the heart of our growth in this region. The additional homeporting of Quantum of the Seas in the 2020/21 season announced today will add some 180,000 guests to the Singapore cruising scene and we are excited for them to experience our world-class, innovative ships.
“2019 also marks a new era for cruising for both Royal Caribbean and the region. We celebrate our 50th anniversary as a global brand and ships like Spectrum of the Seas and our additional capacity with Quantum of the Seas, shows that we are poised to ride on Asia’s astounding growth. Singapore plays an important role as one of the region’s most significant cruise destinations and we look forward to growing the cruise industry here and in the region.”
Spectrum of the Seas kicks off her inaugural Singapore season this month with sailings of three to nine nights to Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong. She will be based in Shanghai from June.
Highlights of Spectrum of the Seas features include Sky Pad, a virtual reality venue, bungee trampoline, a two-level Ultimate Family Suite with an in-room slide, innovative dining, skydiving simulator, bumper cars and the North Star elevated glass capsule.
Quantum of the Seas will return to Singapore in November and offer 34 sailings during the six months from November 2019 to April 2020. She will return for a longer season in October 2020 offering 40 sailings over seven months till April 2021 – the longest ever Singapore deployment for a Quantum class ship.
Quantum of the Seas has the observation capsule North Star which rises 92 metres over the ocean, a high-tech entertainment venue, cocktails served by robots at the Bionic Bar, skydiving, surfing and SeaPlex, the largest indoor activity venue housing a basketball court, roller-skating and bumper cars. The ship also has18 dining venues including imaginative cuisine at Wonderland and celebrity chef Jamie Oliver’s Jamie’s Italian.
