The breathtaking Chinese actress Fan Bingbing was announced as Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas godmother, making her the first Chinese celebrity to ever be selected.
One of China’s most popular stars, Ms Bingbing has starred in Chinese and Western blockbusters like Lady of the Dynasty, The Empress of China and X-Men: Days of Future Past.
She is the godmother of the region’s most technologically advanced ship, which will be homeported in Tianjin before making her way to Singapore, then spending a season in Australia.
Ms Binbing is also known for her extraordinary style on the red carpet and is a fashion icon for millions of adoring fans around the world.
“My father was a singer in the art troupe of the Political Department of the Navy in China. My childhood was filled with the melodies of the sea and I often dreamed about sailing out to sea for an adventure,” said Ms Bingbing.
“Now, thanks to this invitation from Royal Caribbean, my dreams will come true. I am really honoured to be the first Godmother of Chinese nationality for such a prestigious international cruise line as Royal Caribbean International. And I like the name of Ovation of the Seas which in Chinese is interpreted as ‘praising the world and welcoming guests from everywhere.”
Ms Bingbing now joins the ranks of celebrities like comedian/actress Whoopi Goldberg, tennis champion Steffi Graf and performer Gloria Estefan to be named as Royal Caribbean godmothers.
