National Geographic photographer comes on board Dream Cruises

Award-winning National Geographic photographer, Michael Yamashita will be aboard Explorer Dream during her repositioning cruise from Asia to Australia.

Mr Yamashita will be on board Explorer Dream for its 21-night Odyssey from Shanghai to Sydney, between October 6 and 27, 2019, as part of the ‘Dreamscapes’ enrichment programme.

The program features expert speakers from such wide-ranging fields as Astrophotography, Chinese Opera, Pizza Acrobatics, Yoga and Tai Chi on board to present guests with interactive activities and experiences in their area of expertise.

Guests can take part in a series of master classes conducted by Mr Yamashita to learn how to ‘Explore Through the Lens’ and have the opportunity to sharpen their photography skills. Mr Yamashita has been a National Geographic photographer for over 30 years and has also won numerous awards from the National Photographers Association and the Asian American Journalists Association.

The photographic workshops have been designed for guests wanting to hone their skills in travel photography and to provide insights into how to shoot the best locations and capture unique and memorable moments in each port of call on the cruise – Shanghai, Hong Kong, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, Jakarta, Bali, Darwin, Cairns and Gladstone.

Mr Yamashita will also be covering topics such as camera basics, essential equipment, planning your shoot and how to use lighting to your advantage. Budding travel photographers will be particularly interested to here Yamashita’s tips on “Great Travel Photography vs Snapshots: What Makes the Difference?”
