World Dream arrived at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre (MBCCS) in Singapore today, signalling a milestone for the Genting Dream cruise line and kicking off a week of celebrations.

World Dream set off for Hong Kong, her home base, as the Genting Dream headed for Singapore, her home for the coming season.

The launch of a second ship gives Genting the ability got cover both the China market and the South East Asian markets.  There will be a strong marketing campaign in Australia and New Zealand to capture the fly-cruise passenger.  More than a quarter of a million Australians flew to Asia to cruise last year.

Some 800 guests including government dignitaries, business and trade partners and media were at yesterday’s festivities.

“We are truly excited to debut World Dream in Singapore, a popular and well developed travel hub for the region,” said Mr Thatcher Brown, President of Dream Cruises.

“Genting Hong Kong started building its dream in this very city over 24 years ago when Star Cruises chose Singapore as its first homeport for Langkapuri Star Aquarius. A pioneer of the cruise industry in the region, our first ship here marked the beginning of the present cruise industry boom and we have witnessed first-hand the phenomenal growth of the cruise market spanning nearly a quarter-century – from next to nothing in 1993 to over 3 million passengers in 2016.”

We’ll be reporting throughout the week on the new ships – so stay tuned!
